Xavier Fàbregas o la necessitat d'un activisme

Abstract

With his theoretic contributions within the group La Pipironda, Xavier Fàbregas had been in the centre of the new initiatives. His first essays as a playwright made him curious about the real problem of theatre in Catalonia. According to Formosa: «behind the young playwright and the self taught amateur, was a man who was going to be the most important of our investigators, critics and historians, the man who established very solid bases for the history of our theatre and who, therefore, meditates about the present of this theatre» .

The author shared with Fàbregas the job of impelling the movement of the «independents», not only in Barcelona but also in other regions. It is therefore an exceptional testimony when he says that without Xavier Fàbregas there would have been villages and cities in Catalonia which would never have thought of creating new groups or using amateur actors. The article's style is an invaluable chronicle about Fàbregas and his effort for spreading dramatic texts as a founder and director, for example, of the collection El Galliner or his promotion and advice of theatre groups who were trying to create an adequate substructure for the scenic recovering of Catalonia.
