Pompeu Fabra, traductor teatral
Abstract
Due to his relationship with the group “L’Avenç”, Pompeu Fabra would keep up to date with European theatre. Joaquim Casas Carbó would propose him to translate together Gengangeren by Henrik Ibsen. The first night of Espectres would be at the Teatre Olimp in 1896. Fabra might have consider the theatre to be a chance to develop a livelier and less artificial language. After having contacted Maeterlink he would translate L'intruse, whose first night would be in 1893. At the end of that century Fabra would publish in “Catalonia” his translation of Intérieur by Maeterlink, too. Twoo translations by Fabra have disappear: Rosmersholm by Ibsen and Ulalume by Poe.
